'Ōlena (Turmeric) Body Oil and Mist
'Ōlena (Turmeric) Body Oil and Mist
We honor the year of the Wood Dragon with this luscious body oil, and refreshing mist, of Hawaiian turmeric, ‘ōlena!
Turmeric, Curcuma longa, is a flowering, herbaceous plant in the family of the Zingiberaceae. Called ‘Ōlena in Hawai’i, this rhizomatous plant is prized in many asian and pacific cultures for its folk uses and remedies, such as proper digestion, inflammation, nerve repair, and as a dye.
One of the great traditional uses for ‘Ōlena, in Hawai’i, is for the purpose of appeasing and pleasing the mo’o, the dragons. Especially in the pre-polynesian Hawaiian myths, such as Mū, offerings of ‘ōlena not only satiated the dragons hunger, but also incited playfulness and friendliness. For this reason, we are especially eager and delighted to share these apothecary medicinals during the Chinese year of the Wood Dragon.
Body Oil comes as a glass 10ml roller or a 2oz. glass dropper. Apply to desired parts of the body to enjoy the earthy-sweet fragrance, and for absorption into the skin for value. Dragons will love you for it!
Mist comes in a 4oz mister, perfect as a body/face/room mist. We always encourage any and all of our mists to be treated as an addition to your altars and ceremonies spaces
Shelf-life of mist and oils up to 12-24months depending on exposures
Mist is the hydrosol result of steam-distillation process of ‘Ōlena (turmeric) rhizomes. Water used in the distillation process is from the sacred Wailuku River of ‘Īao Valley, Maui.
Oil is a result of maceration extraction method of ‘Ōlena (turmeric) rhizomes. Essential oil is then diluted in organic coconut oil.
All ‘Ōlena is harvested, in small batches, from Maui and Kaua’i islands with ALOHA and MAHALO for all the dragons of the world!
